She also plays saxophone and sings with The Irregulars, a 10-member band that has been active at Brooksby for 17 years. "No autographs, please!" she says, with a smile.

"There's so much to do here. In many ways, Brooksby is like a big college campus. There are activities like book clubs, lectures, and religious services too," she says. "It's such a wonderful place to live. The biggest benefit about living here is the people--including residents and staff. There are many interesting people with different backgrounds for you to meet."

Worry-free living

For nearly two decades, Patricia "Pat" King has been soaking up the free time that her maintenance-free apartment home affords her. 

"It was getting to be too much for me, taking care of a big, seven-room cottage all alone. And my arthritis was starting to cause problems," Pat recalls. "Behind Kingsbury Clubhouse, the grounds are transforming to include an outdoor performing area, a water feature, and a firepit," Beth says. "In chilly New England, firepits are nice in late autumn and early spring." 

She continues, "Kingsbury itself is getting a face lift. The Cider House Restaurant is moving to a larger location, the Harvest Restaurant will be restructured, and there's a new game room for card players."

Sales Director Gina Fernandez is just as eager to see the new enhancements. "If I had to pick one word to describe 2024, it would be 'transformation,'" she says. "I'm looking forward to seeing how our community transforms over the next two years as we refresh current spaces and add new amenities!"
