Ann's Choice Residents Crowned Home Run Champs at Annual Derby

May 10, 2014

WARMINSTER, PA - To help celebrate the nation's pastime of baseball and honor the Phillies who are embarking on the annual journey to win another championship, Ann's Choice residents limbered up their arms and swung for the fences in the 10th Annual Ann's Choice Home Run Derby.

Fourteen participants used real bats and pounded softballs on the Ann's Choice Great Lawn. There were two divisions - a women's league and men's division.
In the women's division, Ann's Choice resident Marilyn Bartkowsky was crowned Home Run Champ by hitting the most home runs.
Fellow resident Bob Klimek used his power to knock more softballs over the fences than any of the other challengers.
The Ann's Choice Home Run Derby kicked-off with the posting of the American Flag by an Honor Guard made up exclusively of Ann's Choice residents who served in the U.S. Armed Forces. Then, the Ann's Choice Chorus sung the National Anthem.
Attendees also enjoyed hearing from Ann's Choice Home Health Administrator Joe Zickel who kept the audience entertained with colorful play-by-play and Phillies trivia questions. Winners received a variety of prizes for their vast knowledge of Phillies baseball.
"This is one of the most exciting and anticipated events we hold here each year and this Home Run Derby thrilled everyone," said Ann's Choice Executive Director Chris Donati. "It also gives residents a chance to engage in an active event that helps keep them fit and healthy, which is one of our community's goals."
