Rana knew she wanted to do more to help people than sit behind a desk. When she began her job search, she had specific values in mind and was particular about which jobs and companies she sought.
“When I discovered Ann’s Choice, I was drawn to the company’s values and mission, which is ‘We help people live better lives,’” she said.
Ann’s Choice, an Erickson Senior Living-managed community in Bucks County, Pa., provides independent living apartment homes and continuing care with an active, maintenance-free lifestyle.
Rana explained that during her interview for the position, she heard about Erickson Senior Living’s commitment to creating a friendly, supportive atmosphere built on a foundation of meaningful relationships between residents and co-workers.
“I thrive on building relationships with people and seeing my work in action,” Rana said. “I knew I could really make a difference in someone’s life here, and I wanted very badly to be a part of that.”
“The services we offer to more than 30,000 residents nationwide are only as good as the people providing them,” said Alan Butler, Chief Executive Officer of Erickson Senior Living. “This is why we take the hiring process very seriously in order to identify the best people. As a growth company with a bright future, we strive to be an employer of choice by providing an unparalleled workplace experience.”
As community resources coordinator, Rana and her team of two others oversee all of the community’s resident clubs, help residents book parties and activities on-site, schedule guest speakers, and help new residents get acclimated to their new community.
“The enthusiasm and excitement I get from residents and my co-workers is the same today as it was that first day,” she said, adding that while the pleasure she gets out of her job is a huge benefit, Ann’s Choice meets other priorities as well. Compensation, culture, work-life balance, and financial stability are highlights of her job.
“Erickson Senior Living fosters a healthy work environment where your health and wellbeing come first,” Rana said. “They want you to be your best.”
Erickson Senior Living offers unique perks such as annual wellbeing visits, on-site employee health and wellbeing centers, and access to wellness workshops, fitness challenges, and health trackers via the Health Advocate app.
The Wellness Fund for employees provides reimbursement of up to $260 for personal wellness expenses for team members enrolled in an Erickson Senior Living medical plan. This can help pay for gym memberships, running shoes, a Fitbit, wellbeing care such as massages, and more.
“Ann’s Choice is unlike any other job I’ve ever had. The residents and my fellow team members are so kind. Everywhere you go, people smile and say hello,” she said. “It’s such an empowering and pleasant place to work.”
“My co-workers and residents know my background, and they are welcoming. That says a lot about this community, considering what is happening now in the news,” she said.
Each Erickson Senior Living community, like Ann’s Choice, has a robust program that includes employee-driven committees that aim to educate, raise awareness, and coordinate special events about diversity, equity, belonging, and inclusion.
“This is a place where you have a voice, and you have a team of leaders who want to see you succeed,” Rana said. “I am honored to work at Ann’s Choice.”
