Wind Crest’s Continuing Care Neighborhood Named “Best Nursing Home” by U.S. News & World Report

November 20, 2018

Wind Crest's continuing care neighborhood was recently named a "Best Nursing Home" by U.S. News & World Report.

"This recognition by U.S. News & World Report reaffirms what I see every day in our staff's commitment to providing each and every resident with exceptional, compassionate care," said Wind Crest Executive Director Craig Erickson.

U.S. News evaluated more than 15,000 homes nationwide, in every state and nearly 100 major metropolitan areas. This year, 2,975 nursing homes earned the designation of a U.S. News Best Nursing Home.

Wind Crest is one of seven Erickson Living-managed communities nationwide selected by U.S. News & World Report for this honor. The others are Ann's Choice (Pennsylvania), Ashby Ponds (Virginia), Brooksby Village (Massachusetts), Linden Ponds (Massachusetts), Riderwood (Maryland) and Tallgrass Creek (Kansas). "What sets Wind Crest apart is our holistic, person-centered approach," said Micah Peterson, Director of Continuing Care. "Our dedicated team is focused on recognizing each resident as individual and working collaboratively to meet their unique physical, spiritual and emotional needs."

Since its inception in 2009, the U.S. News nursing home ratings have relied on data from Nursing Home Compare, a program run by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the federal agency that sets and enforces standards for nursing homes. This year, due to CMS' recent move from a self-reported to a payroll-based nurse staffing reporting and a freeze in health inspection data since November 2017, U.S. News modified the way it uses CMS data for evaluating a nursing home's overall performance.

In addition to skilled nursing care, Wind Crest's continuing care neighborhood offers assisted living, short-term rehabilitation, memory care and more. Wind Crest also features independent living apartment homes. In 2019, the community will welcome new residents to Prospect Crossing, a brand-new independent living residence building with 111 apartment homes in a variety of stylish one- and two-bedroom floor plans.
