Residents, staff collect 120 bags of non-perishable food items, supplies for Interfaith Community Services
DENVER, CO--- To commemorate the twelfth annual statewide day of service, Colorado Cares Day, Wind Crest retirement community hosted a campus-wide food drive to benefit Interfaith Community Services.
During the week of July 25th, residents and staff of Wind Crest collected non-perishable food items, personal hygiene products, baby food and formula and household cleaning supplies. Donations were accepted at designated areas throughout the campus, including the medical center, administrative office and clubhouses.
All told, one hundred-twenty (120) bags of these products were delivered to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Highlands Ranch on Saturday, July 30th by Janice Turner, medical practice manager at Wind Crest, Dr. Barbara Morris, medical director at Wind Crest and commissioner for Serve Colorado, the Governor's Commission on Community Service, and her daughter Shari Morris-Zeitler.
"The mission of Interfaith Community Services is vital to the well-being of the entire community," stated Dr. Morris. "The residents and staff of Wind Crest recognized the opportunity to support Colorado Cares Day and delivered in a generous way. It was rewarding to learn that this year's drive exceeded the 2010 total in terms of total pounds of supplies collected. Truly, all Coloradans benefit by providing a helping hand to those in need."
