HIGHLANDS RANCH, CO (October 7, 2014) - Wind Crest retirement community's Wellness Department brought in United States Professional Tennis Association Certified Instructor Nicole Hola to give tennis tips to residents.
Her tennis instruction was part of Active Aging Week events held nationwide the last week of September. Hola is also the Masters Tennis and Play Day Coordinator in Colorado.
Hola set up a modified court, used larger tennis balls and smaller rackets to make it possible for all residents to enjoy the game.
Scores of Wind Crest residents stopped by to try their hand at 'indoor' tennis. The fitness room buzzed with laughter, energy and competitiveness.
Many residents said they had not played tennis in decades. They had a great time practicing drills and rallying back and forth.
Active Aging Week is led by the International Council on Active Aging and is an annual health promotion event. The week-long observance celebrates adults ages 50 and older as fully participating members of society and promotes the benefits of leading an active, healthier lifestyle. It also highlights the ability of older adults to live well, regardless of age or health conditions.
