Tallgrass Creek Residents Donate $36,049 to Show Their Appreciation to Hourly Staff for Jobs Well Done in 2011
OVERLAND PARK, KS (December 6, 2011) --  Residents of Tallgrass Creek retirement community in Overland Park, KS, this year donated $36,049 to their campus' Staff Appreciation Fund to show their appreciation to staff for jobs well done in 2011.  The money benefitted hourly staff members from Dining Services, General Services, and the Medical Center. This fundraising drive among residents is done annually during the holiday season.
"We are proud of the fact that our employees drive a culture of service where the reward is found by serving residents with excellence," said Peter Crane, the Executive Director of Tallgrass Creek. "Tallgrass Creek is a great place to come to work.  The relationships that are built at Tallgrass Creek between residents and staff are meaningful and genuine.
"Residents naturally want to acknowledge the hard work of those front-line employee that serve them daily in a variety of areas and have expressed it in a tangible gift," he said. "Staff members are surprised at the gift amount and greatly appreciate this very kind gesture during this time of year."
Tallgrass Creek, which has nearly 300 residents,  offers extensive wellness and prevention programs, balance assessment and fall prevention programs, and Fitness and Aquatics Center. Also, there are more than 60 resident-inspired and resident-led clubs, committees and interest groups in these categories: art; cards; computers & technology; dance; faith-based and interfaith; film, fitness and sports; games; gardening; investments; lifelong learning; music; literature, philanthropy; political awareness; theater; woodworking; and writing.
