Tallgrass Creek Marks its 5th Anniverary with Record Resident Occupancy

OVERLAND PARK, KS (October 30, 2012) - Tallgrass Creek retirement community this fall is celebrating its 5th anniversary with record resident occupancy. The community, which recently marked  its 300-resident milestone, is at a 11.6 percent increase in resident occupancy from the same period a year ago. Moreover, 105 people now on the Priority List have expressed interest in moving to Tallgrass Creek.
A total of 134 employees today work at Tallgrass Creek.
Tallgrass Creek has welcomed residents from the following geographic areas during the past five years: Kansas, Missouri, California, New Mexico, Illinois, Iowa, Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana, New Jersey, Nebraska, Colorado, Arizona, Missouri, Texas, Virginia, North Carolina, Ohio, Maryland, Massachusetts, and Georgia.
Tallgrass Creek is becoming a community of choice, according to Sales Director Deborah Messmer. "We have more lifestyle opportunities for residents to remain active."
As an example, Tallgrass Creek residents are involved in numerous community outreach projects, among them:
-- Residents bake and donate an average of 1,300 cookies each month as part of a Cookies for the Homeless project in the St. Louis, Missouri, area. The cookies are included in sack lunches that are distributed to the homeless.
-- Residents spend more than 110 hours each month cutting coupons for a local food pantry and for troops overseas
-- Residents make and donate quilts for the Quilts of Valor national organization and have made more than 75 quilts for Tallgrass Creek veterans.
-- Resident woodworkers make cradles and resident the quilters make blankets to donate to the Johnson County Christmas Bureau. Residents also work in the Christmas store that they sponsor.
-- Resident quilters also make walker bags and neck pillows for a local hospital, quilts for a local psychiatric hospital and dresses for an orphanage in Haiti.
