October 10 "Sweep the Orioles in the ALCS and Sweep Out Hunger" KC Royals Pep Rally/Food Drive at Tallgrass Creek

WHAT:

A Friday, October 10, "Sweep the Orioles in the ALCS and Sweep Out Hunger" Kansas city Royals Pep Rally/Food Drive by more than 300 residents and staff of Tallgrass Creek retirement community in Overland Park, KS. This event is being held in conjunction with Harvesters, a regional food bank serving a 25-county area of northwestern Missouri and northeastern Kansas.

Tallgrass Creek resident and staff will donate food and related household products during an 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. Pep Rally to cheer their beloved Kansas City Royals onto an ALCS victory over the Baltimore Orioles.

During the Pep Rally residents and staff will:

Sign a huge banner that will be taken to Game 3 of the ALCS at Kauffman Stadium.

Dress in Kansas City Royals attire amid Kansas City Royals pennants and blue brooms symbolizing a "sweep."

Share stories of their experiences at "The K," and of their love of Kansas City Royals baseball and the team's glory years, past and present-day.

Participate in a Royals cheer, en masse, that is intended to rival that of fans at Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore.

WHEN/WHERE:

Friday, October 10 (from 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.) at Tallgrass Creek retirement community (back patio), 13800 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park, KS.

ABOUT HARVESTERS:

Harvesters provides food and related household products to more than 620 not-for-profit agencies including emergency food pantries, community kitchens, homeless shelters, children's homes and others. They also offer education programs to increase community awareness of hunger and teach about good nutrition.
