March 28 Groundbreaking for Tallgrass Creek's New Continuing Care Neighborhood

March 21, 2013

A Thursday, March 28, groundbreaking for a new Continuing Care neighborhood at Tallgrass Creek, a  retirement community developed and managed by Erickson Living in Overland Park, KS. This continuing care neighborhood will immediately create 50 construction jobs and then add 70 health care jobs when it opens later this year. It will generate more than $1 million in annual economic impact to Johnson County and Overland Park.
This new neighborhood will allow Tallgrass Creek, which has more than 300 residents, to offer assisted living, short-term rehab and nursing care, in addition to independent living. The higher level of care programs that will be added at Tallgrass Creek will include 28 Assisted Living apartments, 28 Memory Care apartments and 44 Skilled Nursing rooms.
The first phase of the project should be completed by December. This first phase will consist of the construction of a common area at the center of the building, as well as construction of a commercial kitchen to serve higher levels of care and an assisted living area.  The second phase will include the long-term care, skilled-nursing and memory-care additions and is expected to be completed 90 days after phase one is completed.
