OVERLAND PARK, KS -- A Tuesday evening, April 14, Junior-Senior Prom at Tallgrass Creek retirement community in Overland Park, KS, will bring about 30 students from Blue Valley North High School and nearly 125 retirees together on the dance floor.
They will do the Electric Slide, Macarena and Booty Call, among other dances. There could be an impromptu Harlem Shake. And there might even be a few Fox Trots, Waltzes, Twists and Disco dances thrown in for good measure.
The Prom will be a night of dancing and the sharing of life stories. A Dee Jay provided by the students will play an assortment of music genres – everything from Big Band to Rock, from Country to Hip-Hop – as intergenerational age barriers are dismantled.
The students, who will be chaperoned, will bring flowers to the residents for the Prom. They will share soft drinks, snacks with the residents and talk about their plans for college. Perhaps most important, they will dance the night away together until the proverbial cows come home.
WHEN: Tuesday, April 14 (7 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.)
WHERE: Tallgrass Creek, 13800 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park, KS
