Riderwood Residents Donate $378,593 to Thank Hourly Staff for Jobs Well Done in 2012

SILVER SPRING, MD (December 11 , 2012) --  Residents of Riderwood retirement community in Silver Spring, MD , have donated $378,593 to their campus' Staff Appreciation Fund to show their appreciation to hourly staff for jobs well done in 2012.  
The money will benefit 1,208  hourly staff members from Dining Services, General Services, and the Medical Center. This fundraising drive among residents is done annually during the holiday season.
Riderwood, which has nearly 3,000 residents,  offers extensive wellness and prevention programs, balance assessment and fall prevention programs, and Fitness and Aquatics Center.
Also, there are more than 200 resident-inspired and resident-led clubs, committees and interest groups in these categories: art; cards; computers & technology; dance; faith-based and interfaith; film, fitness and sports; games; gardening; investments; lifelong learning; music; literature, philanthropy; political awareness; theater; woodworking; and writing.
Riderwood, which is managed by Erickson Living, is located on 120 acres that stretch across Montgomery and Prince George's Counties. It is the nation's largest continuing care retirement community.
