Riderwood Residents and Staff -- as Well as Prospective Residents -- Deliver  1,000 Donated Toys to Toy for Tots to Help Disadvantaged Children Have a Happy Holiday
SILVER SPRING, MD (December 16, 2010) --- Riderwood retirement community residents and staff, as well as prospective residents,  today delivered more than 1,000 donated toys to Toys for Tots to help disadvantaged children in the greater Washington, D.C, area have a happy holiday.
Nine large boxes filled with toys such as stuffed animals, art  materials, dolls, games, matchbox cars, and coloring books were delivered by residents and staff sporting Santa hats.
They made the donation at Mazza Gallerie in Chevy Chase, MD, a drop-off location coordinated by WRQX-Radio (MIX 107.3 FM). Resident Terrie Elliott was interviewed by the radio station for a drive-time, on-site newscast.
Riderwood, which has nearly 3,000 residents, is the nation's largest continuing care retirement community. It sits on 120 acres that stretch across Montgomery and Prince George's Counties. It is managed by Erickson Living.
