SILVER SPRING, MD--Veterans Day provides Americans with the opportunity to say "thank you" to men and women who have served our nation in the armed forces.
At Riderwood, the Erickson Living retirement community, a new event will reach out to the surrounding area to express our mutual and heartfelt appreciation.
On Friday, November 8th, Riderwood will host its first Veteran Day Expo to commemorate the sacrifices of veterans and provide information to them and their families.
With residents from Riderwood, members of service organizations such as the Greenbelt American Legion and the College Park VFW have been invited, and the event is open to the public.
Additionally, students from John F. Kennedy High School will serve as the Color Guard, and guest speakers will include a Marine from the United States Marine Corps and Riderwood employee Otto Munoz.
Representatives from local government agencies will also be present to provide information on veterans' issues.
Riderwood is located at 3140 Gracefield Road, Silver Spring, MD 20904.  The doors of Maryland Hall will open at 10am for breakfast refreshments, and the program will begin at 10:30am.
