Silver Spring, MD -- This fall local students working at Riderwood, an Erickson Living developed and managed community in Silver Spring, MD, will head to college and for some, continue on with their college/trade school education. Thanks to the over 2500 people who live at Riderwood, 78 employees at Riderwood will receive the Riderwood Student Scholarship.
"This year more than $228,000 was raised for the students mainly by resident contributions," said Fiona Divecha, resident life manager, Riderwood. "The students become eligible for the Riderwood Scholarship by completing 1000 hours of work here over a consecutive 2-year period. The students and the residents build strong bonds of friendship. They enjoy their conversations, daily interactions and learning from each other. The scholarship program is a wonderful benefit for students working at Riderwood."
The students were honored at a Scholarship Awards Ceremony at Riderwood. The students and their families enjoyed hearing a speech from one of the students along with a Bangladeshi dance performance by another student.
