Dr. James Klumpner, Former Chief Economist for Senate and House Budget Committees, to Discuss "Federal Budget Outlook" January 9 at Riderwood

WHAT: Dr. James Klumpner, who has been the Chief Economist of the Senate Budget Committee and at another time also the Chief Economist of the House Budget Committee, will discuss "The Federal Budget Outlook: Where We Are Now, What We Can Expect in the Future" January 9 at Riderwood retirement community in Silver Spring, MD. He is coming to Riderwood at the invitation of the resident-run Riderwood Democratic Club.
 Dr. Klumpner will provide new insights on the budget, its background, the impact of proposals for reform, and the politics involved. In his position as Chief Economist for the Budget Committees, he advised each Committee on national economic conditions, tax policy and Social Security as well as organizing Congressional hearings on these issues.
In addition to his positions on Capitol Hill, he has been teaching courses on the Federal budget and the government's role in the economy at Princeton University, Georgetown University and George Washington University. In his spare time he has been leading an acappella choir of some 25-30 singers.
