PARKVILLE, MD---The military service men and women who are now residents of Oak Crest, the Erickson Living retirement community, have served in the battlegrounds of Europe and the battleships of the Pacific during World War II.
In Korea, they fought in the first encounter of the Cold War, and they have been stationed around the world...all in defense of liberty and freedom.
On Wednesday, July 3rd at 11am, the Greatest Generation and beyond will participate in the Parade of Veterans, an annual tradition at Oak Crest to kick-off the Independence Week celebration and honor an important meaning of the holiday.
Wearing their military attire from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard, the residents will enter the Erickson Conference Center led by the Color Guard. A patriotic ceremony, including recognition of each service branch, will follow.
Uncle Sam and the Statue of Liberty will be making special appearances, too.
There will be ample opportunities for interviews. The Parade of Veterans will begin promptly at 11am, and the program will run until approximately 11:45.
The Erickson Conference Center is housed in Crestview Station of Oak Crest. The 87-acre campus is located at 8800 Walther Boulevard in Parkville, MD.
