Oak Crest Employees Go Above and Beyond During Winter Storm Stella

March 15, 2017

Parkville, Maryland--Winter Storm Stella has come and gone!  While she didn't bring us a full-fledged blizzard, the mix of snow, sleet, freezing rain and wind made for a nasty late-winter storm.

The employees of Oak Crest didn't let Stella stand in the way of taking care of 2,100 residents who depend on them.  More than 90 employees stayed overnight Monday…and countless others made their way in on Tuesday…to make sure sidewalks were cleared, meals were served, medical care was provided and services ran smoothly.

By Tuesday evening, Mark Roussey, Executive Director of Oak Crest, issued this message:

"First of all, a special THANK YOU for your commitment and dedication during the weather event over the last 24 hours. I appreciate your professionalism and your individual commitment to resident services and community operations.

I've received many compliments and thankful comments from the residents because of your caring attitude. I also understand and appreciate the personal and family sacrifices you made by staying overnight or starting your work day earlier to be here on time.   Also, be very careful walking outside and traveling as the predicted cold weather especially overnight may freeze some sidewalks, roads and overpasses.

I'm honored to partner with you every day."

Bettye Miller agreed.  She serves as the Chair of the Oak Crest Residents' Advisory Council.

"We really appreciate the dedication and effort of all our employees who made the extra effort to keep us safe," said Ms. Miller.  "It's a very comforting feeling to know they are here for us during times like a winter storm."
