World's Largest Retiree Kick Line to Sinatra's "New York New York" to Happen November 6 at Charlestown

November 3, 2015

A Friday, November 6, celebration of Frank Sinatra's 100th  birthday by residents of Charlestown retirement community in which they will participate in what is – arguably -- "The World's Largest Retiree Kick Line" to his signature song "New York New York."

Nearly 100 residents are expected to form the Kick Line during a 3 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. intermission of a concert by Frank Sinatra vocalist/impersonator Frank Curreri. Residents will do their Kick Line on a dance floor amid a rousing 'live' performance of "New York New York" by Curreri.

Friday, November 6 (3 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.), in the Conference Center at Charlestown retirement community, 715 Maiden Choice Lane, Catonsville, MD 21228.

The Intermission will also include the singing of "Happy Birthday" to Frank Sinatra by residents, a Sinatra Look-a-Like Contest with the winner earning bragging rights as being the day's honorary "Chairman of the Board" and the singing of "My Way" by residents Walter Hoffmeister and Ray Miles. It will also include vignettes of resident memories of "Frank Sinatra: The Man and His Music."

Known as "The Voice" and "The Chairman of the Board," Frank Sinatra is considered by many the greatest entertainer in the history of American popular culture. He is also one of the most controversial. For more than 60 years, the public saw him entertain millions of fans around the world.

Fewer people knew that he was also a generous philanthropist. But there was also a dark side to his volatile personality. For years he fought with the press, his four wives and the U.S. government.

Frank Sinatra's actual 100th birthday is December 12, but Charlestown residents want to celebrate the occasion early with a live nightclub-style concert of his songs, a buffet meal and added attractions. For more information contact
