Erickson Living's Windsor Run will meet growing demand for senior housing in Charlotte area
(Matthews, N.C.) — Erickson Living, a leading developer and manager of retirement communities nationwide, has started construction on the Sales Center at Windsor Run, a new Continuing Care Retirement Community being developed in Matthews, N.C.
The Sales Center will be the first building constructed at Windsor Run and is expected to open in late 2015. "We are excited to bring the Erickson Living culture and lifestyle to North Carolina," said Will Nance, Vice President of Regional Sales. "The Charlotte area is seeing an increase in demand for more senior housing options and we are looking forward to meeting that demand with Windsor Run."
Windor Run will be constructed on approximately 60 acres of a 105-acre site in Matthews, part of Mecklenburg County, about 15 miles southeast of Charlotte. Following the opening of the Sales Center, the first phase of development plans for Windsor Run includes the construction of independent living apartment homes and a community clubhouse projected for completion in 2017. The community will feature abundant amenities and services complemented with integrated healthcare and wellness programs for seniors.
The Charlotte area is one of the fastest growing regions in the country; U.S. Census Bureau data from 2014 indicates that Charlotte's population has grown 40% since 2000. According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Council on Aging, Mecklenburg County alone will experience a 260% growth in the adults over age 60 in the next 20 years due in large part to the aging baby boomer population.
The addition of Windsor Run will also provide for a broad spectrum of new employment opportunities from management and sales to healthcare and culinary positions.
"We embrace the opportunity to serve those who will live and work at this distinctive community," said Tom Senger, Director of Sales for Windsor Run. "Consumer choice, quality of care, and meeting the lifestyle expectations of today's and tomorrow's seniors, are the cornerstone of our planning for Windsor Run."
Senger brings to Windsor Run more than 30 years of experience in sales and marketing as well as business and client development. He joins Erickson Living from Senior Living Communities, headquartered in Charlotte, where he served as the Executive Vice President for Marketing.
Choate Construction Company will serve as the general contractor and Lantz-Boggio Architects will serve as the architectural firm for the Sales Center project at Windsor Run.
