Mrs. Colorado America and a Para Snow Boarding Champion Exercise with Wind Crest Residents

June 20, 2016

HIGHLANDS RANCH, CO –  Erica Shields, the reigning Mrs. Colorado America, and Kierra Tienney, a Para Snow Boarding Champion, June 13 visited Mill Vista Lodge continuing care neighborhood at Wind Crest retirement community to meet residents and exercise with them.

Shields is a Ph.D. from the University of Utah where she taught in the social sciences department. She also oversaw the Bennion Center where students are engaged in community outreach and service projects while attending the university.

She is an accomplished rider of horses, Harley Davidson Motorcycles and bicycles. She has won numerous national titles in female bodybuilding. She has a passion for learning new things and is never content unless she is challenging herself.

Her greatest achievement has been the four children she has raised and her relationship to her husband Ron. She is a devoted wife and mother who has a strong faith. Her favorite saying is, "I am a child of God."

Tienney is a monthly volunteer who grew up visiting retirement communities to visit her grandmother. She would accompany her father weekly and grew to love retirees' rich history and vibrant personalities.

When she was attending Brigham Young University as an undergraduate she was an avid snowboarder. She qualified to represent the United States in the Sochi Olympics. However, she had a decision to make: either continue to compete, or get married. She chose marriage.

These two beautiful women made lasting friendships with Wind Crest residents, who enjoyed spending time with them.
