GLEN MILLS, Pa. — Maris Grove, an Erickson Living retirement community, is moving ahead with plans to construct its third neighborhood. The new development will include two independent-living residential buildings, Oakleaf Terrace and Maple Crossing, as well as community spaces for activities and dining, called Redwood Commons.
"We are excited to be able to meet the growing demand for the Maris Grove lifestyle with the development of this much-anticipated new neighborhood," said Maureen Heckler, executive director at Maris Grove. "With over eight years of experience and excellence in serving the senior marketplace, the timing for this expansion could not be better."
The new buildings will be about 260,000 square feet and will feature a total of 163 new apartment homes. The living area will consist of an assortment of Maris Grove's most popular one- and two-bedroom floor plans, as well as several brand-new apartment designs in response to customer feedback. Custom interiors will include modernized kitchens with granite countertops and stainless-steel appliances, full-size washers and dryers, and walk-in closets. Community amenities will include a new restaurant, private dining area, café and bar, a media room, a craft area, and fitness space.
"As the demand for senior housing grows in Delaware County, Maris Grove remains focused on providing the type of distinctive housing and lifestyle that meets consumer expectations," said Kathy McCrossin, director of sales at Maris Grove. "The community's strong reputation and ability to provide innovative housing options have made it one of the most popular of all Delaware County retirement communities."
The project is being designed by the award-winning WBE-certified architectural firm of Marks, Thomas Architects. Maris Grove has also selected Whiting-Turner as the general contractor for the new buildings. Construction completion is targeted for early 2017.
