Gastronomic Greatness Demonstrated for Maris Grove Seniors by Community's Chefs in Tasty Exhibition!

GLEN MILLS, P.A. – Culinary experts from Erickson Living's Maris Grove retirement community held a very tasty program to highlight their kitchen talents, provide cooking tips and show residents how committed they are in creating delicious "heart-healthy" meals that certainly do not require the sacrifice of great taste.

Maris Grove Ultimate Chef is an annual tradition which celebrates the finest fare the community's Dining Services staff create each and every day for the more than 1,300 seniors living at the community. In offering the healthy menu options for this year's event, the chefs demonstrated four courses with each under 600 calories.

More than 150 residents had their taste buds tantalized as samples were handed out to the crowd. The comments from the taste testers were immensely positive as they enjoyed  the unique, flavorful and delectable fare in the form of three entrees and a dessert.

On the menu were a succulent Pan-seared Salmon, Seasonal Pumpkin Risotto, Butternut Squash Bisque and low-calorie Brown Sugar Apple Crisp dessert.

Maris Grove Dining Services Director Joseph Guidetti, Executive Chef Justin Pagano and the community's Blue Sky Restaurant Manager Matthew Ehrmann hosted this informative, exciting and entertaining program which was also taped by the Maris Grove community TV station for air at later dates.

The trio of Joseph, Justin and Matthew provided sharp play-by-play and color-commentary for the audience, entertained and enlightened the crowd with fun food facts and offered tasty tales about food origins.

Delighted audience members also won a variety of food-related prizes, including cooking utensils, gift cards and more food for correctly answering cuisine-related trivia questions.

In addition, Maris Grove Medical Director Joel Posner, MD provided wonderful information about healthy eating and foods that provide energy and foods to steer clear of.

Maris Grove Executive Director Maureen Heckler said, "There are so many talented chefs and dedicated dining employees here at this community and Maris Grove Ultimate Chef is a great way to showcase not only great food, but great ideas and tasty recipes for all."

"Nowadays so many people claim to be 'Foodies' and the resurgence in exciting and flavorful recipes is a testament to this country's love of great cuisine," Maureen said. "What is equally as important to great taste are menu options that concentrate on healthy eating which our chefs are committed to for our residents and guests."

"We always like to make the Maris Grove Ultimate Chef program fun and interactive," said Joseph. "As with years past, our dining staff really enjoyed participating in this event and gained true satisfaction knowing that they provided residents with critical information as well as interesting tidbits about delicious, clean cooking."
