25 South Shore Students to Receive Scholarships

Hingham, MA -- More than $100,000 was raised for the Linden Ponds Scholarship Fund.  This year there are 25 students eligible for a Scholarship.
The Linden Ponds Scholarship Fund is for student employees who plan to attend a college or accredited trade school beginning fall 2011.  The students need to have worked at Linden Ponds during their junior and senior year and put in 1000 hours of work.  Those students will receive a total of $4,000 over four years of college.  The money will be dispersed directly to their schools in $500-per-semester increments, for a maximum of eight semesters or four years.
"Our focus this year was on the intergenerational connections between the students and the residents," said Susan DeMello, Staff Development Manager, Linden Ponds.  "People who live here attended a spelling bee, watched a fashion show and/or played Jeopardy at Linden Ponds.  Most of the events were free so we hoped to raise money by donations, not ticket sales.   The students work hard to plan these events, they did a wonderful job and the residents really enjoyed everything about it."
Linden Ponds is a full-service continuing care retirement community situated on a scenic 108-acre campus in Hingham, Massachusetts. The vibrant campus opened in October 2004, and is home to 1,200 seniors who are enjoying life to the fullest.  Erickson Living is the developer and manager of Linden Ponds.
