Residents celebrate two-time American League pennant winning manager of Texas Rangers
DALLAS, TX---They cheered for Michael Young and Josh Hamilton all season and through the American League playoffs. Once the final out was recorded in the AL pennant clincher versus Detroit, it was time to party for residents of Highland Springs, the Erickson Living retirement community in North Dallas.
Donning their red and blue Rangers gear, more than one hundred residents held a World Series Rally on October 19th. They sung "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" and broke out the claw and antler cheers so popular in 2010.
But it was the Wash Dance that stole the show.
Barbara Blachly, community resources manager at Highland Springs, created the special moves in honor of the two-time AL pennant-winning skipper of the Texas Rangers, Ron Washington.
"Ron is so animated in the dugout when the Rangers are in the midst of a rally," said Ms. Blachly. "His enthusiasm is contagious, and he's one of the biggest reasons for the Rangers' success. The Wash Dance is our tribute to our beloved Rangers manager."
And with the resident Highlandette dancers performing behind her, Ms. Blachly debuted the Wash Dance for an eager audience. A dugout lean here, a fist pump there, and lots of jumps in between, the Wash Dance is all about the fun of rooting for the home team.
