Personal Service Key to Highland Springs Realty & Moving Program

November 7, 2017

Dallas, Texas—On moving day, Barbara Clary walked into her new apartment home at Highland Springs and found that the furniture was in place, boxes and wrapping paper were out of sight and even her bed was made.

"This is typically a nerve-wracking experience," stated Ms. Clary, a retired medical professional employee.  "But for me, everything went as planned.  It was literally perfect."

In transitioning from her house of 56 years in nearby Richardson to Highland Springs, Ms. Clary turned to Cindy Gay.

The Personal Moving Consultant, Ms. Gay leads the realty and moving services program at the Erickson Living retirement community in North Dallas.  She provides prospective residents with advice on the logistics of moving and coordinates services with a preferred network of Realtors®, downsizers and senior move managers with decades of experience in the Dallas area.

It begins with a complimentary in-home visit.  "This is such a valuable use of time as I get to know the customer and their specific needs in a relaxed atmosphere.  We discuss what it takes to sell their house in the least amount of time with the optimal value," said Ms. Gay, whose background includes serving as a Personal Stylist with Nordstrom, working with customers in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Ms. Clary agreed.  "Cindy was wonderful.  She listened to my goals and made them a reality.  She recommended that I work with Jane Clark of Keller Williams, a preferred realtor with Highland Springs, to list the house in the best possible manner.  Within two days, it was under contract, and I was thrilled."

Preparing to move was the next step.  During the home visit, Ms. Gay had brought floor plans of the large one-bedroom apartment home that Ms. Clary had reserved.

Interestingly, Ms. Gay's father was a custom home builder.  "In being around my Dad's company, I had access to blue prints of new projects," noted Ms. Gay.  "This experience now comes in handy to assist customers such as Barbara.  I use this knowledge to help plan their move to Highland Springs."

Ms. Clary utilized the Donna Rea Team from Caring Transitions, a North Dallas-based senior move manager in the Highland Springs realty & moving services network.  "They were incredibly professional.  After consulting with my family, we held an estate sale and also donated items to local charities," described Ms. Clary.

Re-purposing items to non-profit organizations is growing more popular as a means of downsizing.  "In many cases, this is a convenient option for people who have lived in their houses for years.  For example, our customers have contributed books to libraries and tools to Habitat for Humanity.  Donating to local charities is a 'win-win' for everyone involved," said Ms. Gay.

For Ms. Clary, moving day on December 7, 2016 was stress-free.

"The team from Caring Transitions carefully packed my house in the morning, and by that evening, my new home at Highland Springs was pristine.  Their attention to detail was amazing," she said.

"We consistently work with our preferred vendors to make the experience seamless for residents," said Ms. Gay, who noted that nearly 95 percent of residents use an element of the program.  "Every week, I review and act upon updated reports from our vendors on the move status of customers.  Since the real estate market in Dallas is hot, offers can occur quickly.  This coordination is vital to meet the personal preferences of future residents."

Ms. Clary happily reflected on her first year at Highland Springs.

"I love my apartment home and enjoy the pretty view.  Now I am socializing with new friends and have more time to do the things I like, such as volunteering at First United Methodist Church in Richardson," said Ms. Clary.

Clients using the realty and moving services program of Highland Springs are eligible for up to $2,000 in moving credits.  For more information, please contact the Sales Department at 972-231-9933.
