Dallas, Texas—Residents of Highland Springs retirement community in North Dallas will join more than 100,000 older adults across the nation in celebrating National Senior Health & Fitness Day on May 25.
This year's theme is "Improve Your Health for a Better Self!"
Highland Springs will host a trifecta of events designed to commemorate the day.
10am: Dr. Mary Norman, MD, Medical Director, Presentation on "Stroke Prevention"
11:30am: Indoor Group Walk for residents
2:00pm-4:00pm: Health Fair for residents with internal information from the Highland Springs medical center, fitness team and spiritual well-being team and outside vendors such as local chapters of the American Heart Association and Alzheimer's Association for screenings and information services. More than 150 residents are expected to attend the Health Fair.

Organized as a public/private good health partnership by the Mature Market Resource Center (MMRC), Senior Health & Fitness Day will offer fitness activities for older adults at more than 1,000 locations including hospitals, park and recreation departments, senior centers, health clubs, retirement communities, houses of worship, health departments and other community locations. The event is always held on the last Wednesday in May as part of Older Americans Month activities.
