Dallas, TX—Residents and employees of Highland Springs joined citizens across the nation in showing their appreciation to law enforcement officials. On September 21, the Erickson Living retirement community hosted five officers from the Dallas Police Department for a ceremony as part of the National "Tell a Police Officer Thank You" days being held this month. As the event began, the officers received a standing ovation from those in attendance, most of whom were dressed in blue as a symbolic display of support. During the ceremony that featured a history of the Dallas Police and prayer, the police officers were presented with homemade treats to take back to their respective precincts and a banner signed by residents and staff of Highland Springs. The large placard featured a quote from former President John F. Kennedy that read "we must find time to stop and thank the people who make a difference in our lives." The community also honored its campus security personnel as part of the event. Marna Keith is a resident of Highland Springs. Formerly of Richardson, the retired school teacher and administrator attended the event. "Our local police officers walk into potential danger, in nearly every type of situation, to keep the greater community safe," stated Ms. Keith, a member of the Resident Life Committee of Highland Springs. "We are fortunate that they are there for us, and we simply wanted to say thank you to them for a job well done."
