March 22, 2012

Joseph Feld's "Wild Horses" watercolor to be displayed at LeadingAge Texas ceremony in May

DALLAS, TX---Joseph Feld, a resident of Highland Springs retirement community in North Dallas, was named a finalist in the watercolor category of the 2012 Art Is Ageless Contest.
The competition is sponsored by LeadingAge Texas, an industry association that represents not-for-profit aging services providers.
Art Is Ageless showcases the artistic talents of older Texans from retirement communities across the state.   LeadingAge Texas receives over 200 entries every year that are judged by experts in the field such as university professors, artists and authors.
Mr. Feld's watercolor work, "Wild Horses," is inspired by the beautiful, elegant horses that he enjoyed watching in Western movies as a youngster.
Born in New York City, Joseph Feld served his nation as a medic with the Army Air Corps in Europe during World War II.  Upon his return home, Mr. Feld completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the prestigious Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art where he worked during the day and attended art classes at night.
He dreamed big, always pursuing a career in the art field, and his determination was rewarded with the experience he gained in the industry.
Mr. Feld eventually owned an art studio that specialized in graphic and lettering design for clients worldwide.  He then shared his gifts with younger generations as a teacher at the High School of Art and Design in Manhattan.
Today, he still enjoys his craft, utilizing the arts studio at Highland Springs.
Chris Emmett, Executive Director of Highland Springs, stated: "With a statewide competition coordinated by LeadingAge Texas, it speaks for his special talent that Mr. Feld is a finalist.  We are all very proud of Mr. Feld, not only for his creativity but also for his generous spirit. His paintings truly enhance the beauty of our campus."
LeadingAge Texas will hold an awards ceremony and reception for the artists on May 19th in conjunction with its annual meeting and Older Americans Month.  The event will take place at the Fairmount Dallas Hotel.
