Highland Springs Government Affairs Group Hosts U.S. Senate Candidates Forum

February 9, 2012

DALLAS, TX---Highland Springs, the Erickson Living retirement community in North Dallas, hosted a forum for candidates vying for the United States Senate seat for Texas.
The position is currently held by Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, who has announced her retirement effective at the end of her third term.
The February 2nd event featured Republican candidates Tom Leppert, former mayor of Dallas, and Glenn Addison, a business owner from Magnolia, Texas.  With over 115 residents in attendance, the forum was sponsored by the community's resident-led Government Affairs Group.
During their ninety minutes of time, Mayor Leppert and Mr. Addison responded to nineteen questions from Highland Springs resident Herb Hoxie, who served as the moderator, and members of the audience.  The topics ranged from job creation and Medicare reform to border security and the future of NASA.
"It was a positive discussion of the issues, and we thank the candidates for attending," said Mr. Hoxie.  "As evidenced by our high voter participation, the residents are very interested in national affairs.  The forum allows us to make informed decisions come election time."
The forum will be re-aired on the in-house television station of Highland Springs.
The Texas presidential primary election is currently scheduled for Tuesday, April 3rd.
