Highland Springs Celebrates Women’s History Month

April 16, 2019

Dallas, Texas--More than 100 residents, employees and family members attended a special "Lunch and Learn" at Highland Springs to celebrate Women's History Month on March 26.  During the intergenerational event, a video montage of eight female residents was shown in which they described their career paths and personal journeys of raising families.

The residents who participated in the collaboration included Geraldine Bell, Barbara Buehler, Phyllis Dunkin, Janet Hale, Norma Hill, Betty King, Mary Lou Smith and Mary Vickers

"We were so honored to learn from these amazing residents as we commemorated Women's History Month," stated Irene Ouazaa, Human Resources Manager.  "Their accounts truly inspired us.  From Dr. Hale who completed a residency program for breast surgery to Ms. Vickers who served as a United Nations Diplomat Liaison and journalist, the video compilation of their life stories is truly a gift of history to our community that we will always treasure."

The initiative was coordinated and presented by the Diversity and Inclusion Committee of Highland Springs, a retirement community developed and managed by Erickson Living.
