As a result of the funds donated by the community, Greenspring was able to provide 300 turkeys to area families in need through three area nonprofits: SOME (So Others Might Eat), Central Union Mission, and Southeast Whitehouse.  Traditionally each year, representatives from the nonprofits participate in the turkey trot and share their appreciation for the generosity of the Greenspring community.  David Treadwell, the Executive Director of Central Union Mission, stated that the turkeys donated by Greenspring will represent about 10% of those provided by Central Union Mission for the holiday.

Residents and staff at Greenspring donate generously to a number of causes throughout the year including the Scholars' Fund, which provides scholarships for higher education to student employees, the Benevolent Care Fund, which provides support to residents who, despite careful planning, outlive their financial resources, and to ECHO food drives, providing supplies to greater Springfield area families in need, just to name a few.
