Residents and staff will parade nearly 40 dogs in costume at Greenspring retirement community. A special guest will also give a presentation on how service dogs can help those with physical and cognitive disabilities.
WHAT: The annual Halloween Pet Parade will be held at Greenspring on Saturday, October 29. In years past, the parade venue at Greenspring has been "standing room only," as an audience of Greenspring residents, family, and staff watch a parade of costumed pets prance by! The parade is sponsored by the Dogs of Greenspring resident club at the community. This year, the Parade of Pets will feature a variety of dogs from Shetland Sheepdogs to Cavachons to Australian Terriers.
Finally, a presentation from Canine Partners for Life will bring the program to a close. The organization is a "non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to training service dogs, home companion dogs, and residential companion dogs to assist individuals who have a wide range of physical and cognitive disabilities." The presentation will be given by Sharon Tarlono; her dog, Chuck Wagon, helps her to complete everyday activities such as putting her shoes on. She will give a presentation on how dogs in the Canine Partners for Lifeprogram can help those with disabilities.
