October 7, 2014

NOVI, MI (October 7, 2014) -- Tia Maria is the "One Hot Dog" winner of Fox Run retirement community's Strut Your Mutt dog show.

She is a 10-year-old Dautshund who has been with her owner, Eva Barnes, ever since she was a six-month-old puppy. Tia Maria is said to be "a friendly and loving dog."

Tia Maria was one of 25 dogs -- Maltase, Poodles and Terriers included -- who participated in the dog show held September 27 on Fox Run's campus in Novi.  The dogs are pets of Fox Run residents and staff.

As each dog and dog owner were called, their dog was walked around a circle. An emcee announced the dog's name, its breed and a fun fact about its breed. Dogs participated in easy obstacles as they walked around the circle.

Every dog won a prizes that included homemade dog biscuits from 3 Dog Bakery in Plymouth, Top Dog trophies and tug toys for dogs.

In addition, each dog got a new toy for coming out and strutting their stuff.

Some of the awards given out were "I Walk My Owner," "Best Wag," Best Name,"  "Cutest Couple," "Even Cuter in Doggy Clothes," and "Most Likely to chase the Mailman."

Beth Conway, Bob Luther and Marge Fountain judged the dog show. Retired pastor Vic Mesenbring gave a blessing over the pets to end the event.

All dogs had their "official" photos taken next to the Bright Red Fire Hydrant at Fox Run.
