Fox Run's Generosity Exceeds the $1 Million Mark

August 27, 2012

Handcrafted Dollhouse Holds the Key to this Important Milestone

(NOVI, MI)  -- Caring for each other is what residents and staff members at Fox Run, an Erickson Living community in Novi, Michigan do best. On Friday, September 14, 2012, the community will host the 9th annual Benevolent Care Gala in support of the community's Benevolent Care Fund. The fund provides confidential financial assistance to residents who, despite careful planning, can no longer afford to cover the full cost of their care.
"Historically, we raise at least $100,000 at our galas," says Fox Run Philanthropy Manager Marianne Mikkelsen. "We anticipate reaching that goal again this year, bringing us well over one million total dollars raised."
Held at the community's Belmont Clubhouse, guests will be taken "On Safari" as they enjoy a gourmet dinner and live entertainment from Jim Coviak and Friends percussion ensemble, the Timberline Dancers, and the Tommy James Band.
Throughout the gala, guests will participate in a silent auction of specially prepared gift baskets which include gift certificates for personal training sessions, workout equipment, and dinner for four with chauffeured transportation in a 2012 Cadillac.
This year's gala will also include the first-ever "Home for Life" raffle which will contribute significantly to the event's financial success. The winner will receive a handcrafted Victorian style dollhouse, created over a period of six weeks, by members of the Fox Run Hobby Shop. "We are hoping to sell a lot of tickets," says Paul Benivegna, the president of the Hobby Shop. Tickets are currently on sale at Fox Run for $5 each or six for $20.
"We had a lot of fun, over many hours, working on the dollhouse," says community member Dick Miles. "It is our small way of showing our support for our community."
"The dollhouse is a real testament to the residents at Fox Run," says Fox Run Community Resource Manager Andrea Lewis. "We don't just see each other as neighbors, employees, or co-workers. We are family. Ticket sales for the dollhouse are going strong and I believe a large part of that has to do with the fact that it was built, with love, from our Hobby Shop."
"We hope that the raffle does well," says Benivegna. "Helping each other out - that's just what we do here."
Fox Run is managed by Erickson Living and is located at 41000 Thirteen Mile Road, Novi, MI 48377.  More information about Fox Run can be found at:
