HOUSTON, TX--Shirley A. Woods, Wellness Manager for Eagle's Trace retirement community, has been selected as a Professional of the Year Member of the Covington Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. According to Covington, the selection "recognizes her commitment to excellence in Senior Independent Living."
Mrs. Woods began her career in fitness in 1996. After having two children, she began taking aerobic classes, fueling her passion for the industry.
Mrs. Woods now teaches twenty exercise classes each week for the residents of Eagle's Trace, including Tai Chi, Pilates, Yoga, Chair Chi Yoga, Water Aerobics, Strength & Stretch, Functioning Beginning, and a Silver Express Class, a combination of standing and sitting.
She gives orientations in the fitness center, does personal training and teaches six-week Boot Camp and Balance Classes. In addition, she oversees the Fitness and Aquatics Centers, both enjoyed by residents as part of the overall health and wellness program offered at Eagle's Trace.
Sharing her expertise and broadening her horizons go hand-in-hand for Mrs. Woods.
"I always attend as many classes as available because the field of fitness is forever changing," Mrs. Woods said. "My desire to learn new things to enhance my career has always been a force inside of me."
She is certified in CPR, basic life support, aquatic exercise, Tai Chi, Yoga, Pilates instructor and as a personal trainer.
Mrs. Woods is now an "Ageless Grace" educator, a comprehensive program for mind and body. She is an active member of Aquatic Exercise Association, Yoga Alliance, International Fitness Professionals Association, Tai Chi for Health and New Yoga.
