HOUSTON, TX—With over 130 retired service men and women as residents, Veterans Day is one of the most meaningful holidays at Eagle's Trace, the Erickson Living retirement community in West Houston.
Among them are veterans of World War II and the Korean & Vietnam Wars.
The community will commemorate Veterans Day on Tuesday, November 11th with a program that will include students from the West Side High School ROTC, patriotic songs and poignant remembrances from residents.
Carol Cain, Associate Director of the National Women Airforce Service Pilots World War II Museum in Sweetwater, Texas, will be the keynote speaker for the November 11th event.
"As a nation, we have one major opportunity per year to recognize those in uniform," described Michael Mayer, Eagle's Trace resident and a twenty-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force who served in Vietnam.
"Educating our guests about the critical role that women played during World War II will make the day extra special," stated Mr. Mayer.
Residents will display mementoes and photos from their military service and be available for interviews.
