Houston, Texas—The 70-acre campus of Eagle's Trace is known for its meticulous landscaping and lakeside living. Whether it's an outdoor dining event or a leisurely walk, residents are able to take in the beauty of nature. But on the inside, a treasure trove of amenities allows for worry-free living at the Erickson Living retirement community. Just ask Janet Marvin. She's lived at Eagle's Trace for six years. A former resident of League City, she is a retired nurse. "The convenience is wonderful," described Ms. Marvin, who is the current chair of the Residents' Advisory Council. "Everything I need is just a short stroll from my apartment home. When the weather is inclement, it is terrific not to have to drive." Residents use the hair salon and barbershop, convenience store, bank, ATM and computer lab with high-speed internet for their personal matters and errands. To keep up their exercise regimens, they take a myriad of classes and individual training sessions in the fitness center and an indoor heated swimming pool. Erickson Living offers an integrated, personalized health and wellness program. For residents, the Eagle's Trace medical center provides same-day appointments with full-time physicians. X-rays and lab work are performed on-site, and a pharmacy offers free delivery straight to their front doors. "This is one of my favorite aspects of life at Eagle's Trace. I've never had to wait more than twenty-four hours to see one of our physicians," noted Ms. Marvin. Residents have formed over 90 groups and clubs, ranging from gaming and hobby activities to volunteer service. They meet in areas such as the creative arts studio, game room, classroom and even the woodworking shop. A resident-run library is also a popular destination. "Our residences are connected via climate-controlled walkways to the Audubon Clubhouse where most of our services and amenities are located," stated Pamela Burgeson, Director of Marketing. "We'll enjoy more opportunities in Amarillo Terrace, our new independent living building currently under construction." There, all residents will have access to a media room, satellite fitness center and new dining venues. The project, now accepting reservations, is scheduled to open in the fall.
