(Palm Beach Gardens, Florida) – Since 2003, people around the country have celebrated the Go Red For Women® movement on National Wear Red Day®, which falls on the first Friday of February. According to the American Heart Association, heart disease and stroke cause 1 in 3 deaths among women each year. National Wear Red Day® is intended to bring awareness to that statistic and to encourage women to get to know their own heart health. On February 5th, more than two dozen staff members at Devonshire at PGA National came together to share their support for Go Red For Women® movement.
Devonshire at PGA National promotes a vast array of health and wellness activities for both residents and staff members. In recent years, Devonshire has earned the Fit-Friendly Worksites Gold Award recognition given by the American Heart Association and has instituted a smoke-free policy. The community also hosts an annual wellness fair each fall, which welcomes dozens of health and personal safety professionals from throughout South Florida. Recently, Devonshire has partnered with Weight Watchers®, adding to the availability of classes and activities on campus such as aquacise, yoga, and meditation, intended to help support a healthy lifestyle.
