CATONSVILLE, MD -- Charlestown retirement community's new 32" by 260" model railroad mural depicts western Pennsylvania mountains, bringing nature's virtual beauty to the winding tracks below.<?xml:namespace prefix = o />
The mural's paper on vinyl adhesive photo is by Dave Burgess of Backdrop Junction based in Massachusetts. Residents Roberta Poulton and Ed Serp technically mounted the mural.
"The mural looks so nice," said Ann MacKay, president of the community's Residents' Council.
The HO-scale model railroad has a rolling stock of 200 cars and engines. It features miniature replicas of main street Catonsville, Bethlehem Steel and an assortment of local buildings and landmarks.
It is open year-round to the public on Saturdays from noon - 2 p.m. More than 1,000 people last year visited the model railroad.
"It's a great place to visit with grandchildren." said Pat Kasuda.
