Charlestown Residents Make Women's History

March 13, 2012

Eight residents to share life experiences during annual celebration on March 14th

CATONSVILLE, MD---Since an act of Congress in 1987, March is Women's History Month, and the Diversity and Inclusion Council of Charlestown retirement community will be hosting a celebration on Wednesday, March 14th.  The event will be held from 11am-Noon.
As developed by the Library of Congress and the National Women's History Project, the theme for 2012 is Women's Education-Women's Empowerment.
The stories of women's achievements are integral to the fabric of society.  Eight female residents of Charlestown will reflect American history, sharing their life experiences, career paths and accomplishments with an intergenerational audience during the event.
For example, one resident will discuss her advocacy of the Equal Rights Amendment in the 1970's, while another will discuss her career with the U.S. Naval Academy.
