Charlestown Residents and Staff Help Low-Income Elementary School Students

August 11, 2014

CATONSVILLE, MD (August 11, 2014) - Charlestown retirement community residents and staff donated $1,000 and 10 large boxes of school supplies - crayons, #2 pencils, glue sticks, erasers, scissors, and notebooks - during a two-week project for Riverview Elementary School
This project was sponsored by the Erickson Living Values Team and the Fab 40 group to help low-income students who attend the school. Many Charlestown residents volunteer throughout the year at the school.
"This was an opportunity for a resident-run group and a staff group to come together and raise money and supplies for a great cause," said Amy Sarro, a social worker in the Resident Services department. ""Our Intermissions Department staff and residents even decorated boxes for the donations."
Charlestown, which has more than 2,000 residents, is managed by Erickson Living.
