On September 27, Charlestown, a continuing care retirement community managed by Erickson Living, hosted its annual Gala to benefit the community's Benevolent Care Fund, which provides confidential financial assistance that allows all residents to remain in their home for life.
Thanks to generous contributions from community members and sponsors, this year's Gala raised a total of $87,323, which is nearly $8,000 more than last year's event. These funds will help Charlestown keep its "Home for Life" commitment, providing necessary support to residents who may experience an unforeseen change in their financial circumstances.
This year's theme, "A Magical Evening," was woven throughout the event, which included dinner, drinks, and a dessert and coffee bar. Music was provided by members of the local big band group, Mood Swings, and guests enjoyed bidding on a selection of special Silent Auction items. Magicians George Bradley and Adam Stone circulated among the crowd, providing personalized entertainment with close-up illusions. Mr. Stone also performed a magic show, which was well-received by the enthusiastic audience.
"The Gala is a unique opportunity for our community, friends and family to come together and 'party with a purpose'," said Patti Santoni, Director of Philanthropy at Charlestown. "The promise of a Home for Life is not kept through magic, but instead by our community coming together to make Charlestown a truly magical place that supports and cares for each other. We are incredibly grateful to our sponsors and all who contributed to making this year's Gala a huge success."
In Charlestown's 36 year history, no resident has ever been asked to leave the community for financial reasons. This commitment, upheld by the Benevolent Care Fund, offers peace of mind not only to residents, but also to family members who know their loved one will always receive the care they deserve.
