The Spirit of Giving is Alive at Ashby Ponds this Holiday Season

December 15, 2011

Almost $100,000 was raised by residents and given to hourly employees at the Ashburn retirement community

(ASHBURN, VIRGINIA) - Each year during the holidays at Ashby Ponds retirement community, residents organize a charitable campaign in an effort to say 'thank you' to the hourly staff members at the community.  This year, 92% of the residents at the community participated in raising $95,861 for the 2011 Staff Appreciation Campaign.  These employees include the community's wait staff, security officers, communication and administrative staff, banquet servers, maintenance workers, culinary team, housekeepers, and the special projects crew, totaling 165 non-management hourly employees.

"It's an exciting time around the community each year because it is truly a celebration of the Ashby Ponds employee," said Nicole Johnson, the Director of Human Resources at Ashby Ponds.
On December 13, staff members received the checks from the residents and had an opportunity to thank them for their generosity while the residents were able to express their gratitude for their dedicated service.
"The annual staff appreciation check distribution event truly defines the meaning of community," according to the Ashby Ponds Philanthropy Committee.
