Blessing of the Animals at Ashby Ponds

WHAT: Blessing of the Animals, sponsored by Galilee Methodist Church (Sterling, Va.), at Ashby Ponds retirement community.  There are 600 residents at the community and about 80 cats and dogs who also call Ashby Ponds home.  Historically, the blessing of the animals has been held on October 4 in honor of the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals and ecology.
