Ashby Ponds Welcomes New Community Resources Coordinator

February 17, 2012

(ASHBURN, VIRGINIA) - Ashby Ponds retirement community in Ashburn, Va. has recently welcomed Elisabeth Longworth as the new Community Resources Coordinator. She joins a staff of over 200 at the community, which will further expand with the opening of Red Robin View, an additional residential building, in April 2012.

Elisabeth Longworth spent three years at The Jefferson, another area continuing care retirement community (CCRC), as the Director of Lifestyle and Leisure. During her graduate studies, she was also a canvass volunteer coordinator with the Obama for America Campaign and an intern on Capitol Hill for Congresswoman Donna Edwards. Longworth holds a bachelor of social work degree from James Madison University and a master of social work degree from George Mason University, where her focus was on nonprofit leadership and public policy.
"I hope to bring a sense of enthusiasm and a spirit of service to all that I work with here in the community," said Longworth. "Ashby Ponds is on the verge of tremendous growth and I am excited by the opportunities that growth will bring."

As the Community Resources Coordinator at Ashby Ponds, Longworth will provide a variety of support functions within pastoral ministries, wellness, community resources, volunteerism, and community television.
"I'm thrilled to welcome Elisabeth to the Ashby Ponds community," said Joe Barrows, the Community Resources Manager at Ashby Ponds.  "Her thorough background in social work and her past experience with CCRC's will be a tremendous asset in helping her to adapt to our community and our residents' needs."
